Game Day Wings 3 Ways!
It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday and my favorite part, of course, is the food! Here is a recipe for a big batch of crispy baked chicken wings that can be tossed with a variety of sauces. There are so many amazing sauce brands out there and I am going to recommend some of my favorites! For this batch, I’ll be making:
Classic Buffalo Style Wings
Spicy Honey BBQ Wings
Thai Peanut Wings
For the Wings:
Ingredients:
3-4 lbs. chicken wings
2 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Rinse wings and pay very dry using paper towels. Place dry wings in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, mix baking powder, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder & onion powder. Add mixture to the wings and toss with tongs until evenly coated.
Place the wings on a wire baking rack placed on top of a foil-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are in a single layer and not touching. Bake for 25 minutes, remove from oven and flip to the other side. Bake for another 25 minutes until wings are crispy and golden brown.
Remove wings from the oven and split into 3 portions. Toss each portion in appropriate sauce and plate with garnishes. Enjoy!
Sauces & Garnishes:
Classic Buffalo Style Wings
Buffalo Sauce
Celery Sticks
Carrots Sticks
Blue Cheese Dressing
Ranch Dressing
Chopped Chives
My favorite Buffalo Sauce is Frank’s RedHot Wings. It’s the ultimate classic Buffalo flavor and is easy to find at most grocery stores. You can also get it on Amazon. You’ll also want to serve your Buffalo Wings with celery, carrots and blue cheese and ranch dressing. I also like to sprinkle chopped chives on top of everything for some extra flavor.
Spicy Honey BBQ Wings
BBQ Sauce
Sliced Jalapeños
Honey
Sesame Seeds
To me, there is no better BBQ sauce than Stubb’s Original! It’s sweet and tangy and the perfect balance of flavor. You can also find this in most grocery stores or Amazon. For my Spicy Honey BBQ Wings, I like to serve it with honey on the side to dip the wings. I also add sliced jalapeño on top of the wings to give the spicy kick and sometimes I sprinkle sesame seeds for a little crunch.
Thai Peanut Wings
Thai Peanut Sauce
Fresh Cilantro
Crushed Peanuts (I usually buy salted peanuts and crush them in a Ziplock bag)
Fresh Lime Wedges
There are lots of great Thai Peanut sauces out there. I purchased one over the summer at the Cape May Peanut Butter Company in NJ and it has become my absolute favorite. It’s just called Thai Peanut Sauce & Dip and you can find it on their website. I love serving my Thai Peanut Wings over a bed of cilantro and sprinkling crushed peanuts on top. Lastly, you need the zest of some fresh lime juice! I garnish the plate with lime wedges so people can squeeze it on top as they please.
