Quarantined on Valentine’s Day?

To be honest, even if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic, I would probably still be spending Valentine’s Day at home! Between our busy schedules and how much I used to travel for work, I always loved spending this holiday doing something special in our own space. Here are 10 creative ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day at home!

Serve Breakfast in Bed

Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, which is the perfect reason to plan breakfast in bed. Make something delicious and indulgent together like crepes or eggs benedict, then get back in bed to eat. You can also pour some mimosas to make the occasion extra special.

Take a Virtual Cooking Class

One of my favorite places, Hudson Table in Hoboken, is hosting a live virtual cooking class on Valentine’s Day featuring homestyle Italian recipes. You can get your tickets on their website. Or look locally in your area for other virtual cooking classes.

Play Restaurant at Home

Set up your kitchen or dining space with candles, flowers, music and get out your fanciest dishes. Order take out or delivery from your favorite place. This is a great way to support local restaurants when you can’t go out. Goldbelly also has a lot of Valentine’s Day offerings that ship nationwide.

Host a Virtual Double Date

Miss your friends? Host a virtual double date! Spend Valentine’s Day catching up over some wine and cheese. You can also watch a movie together virtually as a group (see my blog post on How to Host a Virtual Watch Party).

Play a Board Game

Bring back the classics like Monopoly and Sorry! Or challenge your partner to a game of strip Twister (just sayin!)

Have a Movie Night

Make some popcorn, curl up on the couch with a cozy blanket and pick some movies to watch together. Pick an old movie that you both love or watch something new that you both haven’t seen.

Plan an At-Home Wine Tasting

Play winery in your kitchen! Sippd.com is a great resource to help you select wines by acting like your personal sommelier. They also partner with Wine.com so once you pick your wines, they’ll get shipped directly to you.

Have a Spa Night

Set the mood with aromatherapy oils and spa music. Make some spa water infused with cucumber and mint. Give each other massages, take a bubble bath together and finish the night relaxing in your robes with face masks on while sipping herbal tea.

Have a Dance Party

Greg and I LOVE a good dance party! On the weekends (usually after a few drinks) we put on our favorite rock tunes and dance the night away. It’s also a great workout :)

Plan a Scavenger Hunt

This will involve some planning ahead, but it’s a super fun and creative way to celebrate your love. Plant clues around your house or apartment that lead your partner to their Valentine’s Day gift.
